Project 1 :
Postcards

In this project, I had chosen to create 4 postcards. The places that I chosen to draw are the places that have bring me sweet memories. There are my old house, my current house, my primary school and my high school. These places are all located in Selangor, Malaysia. As these places have bring a lots of sweet memories to me, I had put the title "Sweet Memories" for all my postcards. I had presented it in front of my tutor and my friends during our tutorial class.

Project 2
In this project, we have chosen to study and analyse on 3 sites found as our context of infrastructure in rural, suburban and rural areas. The three sites that we have chosen are Janda Baik, Desa Park City and Bukit Bintang. The main objective of this project is to study on the infrastructure in these three different places and we have chosen to touch on the traffic lights, pedestrian walkways, street lights and road signages. We had chosen road safety as our infrastructure topic to discuss about in this project. Our group members are Claire Zhuang, Vicky Lee, Jessie Tan, Jacquelyn Tan and me.
After we had submitted our project, we need to present on what we had done in our project. Our group are doing video presentating, which is different from other groups. I have been chosen to summarize and compared the pedestrian walkway of Bukit Bintang, Desa Park city and Janda Baik, which representing urban, suburban and rural areas.
Here is the link to our video presentation. Please enjoy.
On the sixth week of our first semester in Foundation and Build Environment, our lecturers had brought us to a 3 days 2 nights site visit at Janda Baik, Pahang to experience natural and rural environment. Janda Baik is a simple Malay kampong with a population of approximately 1000 people, about 30km from Kuala Lumpur. It is a peaceful village surrounded with untouchable natural tropical rain forest. The greenery and fresh air make us feel relax and the sound of the crickets can be heard everywhere.
The first place we visited is Danau Daun Chalets. Danau Daun Chalets located in the cool and lush tropical valley in Kampung Sum-Sum Hilir, Janda Baik. It is designed as a very open tropical Malay house and it is committed to preserve the natural Eco-system and ensuring the natural environment is maintained.
We stayed at Teratak Malaya for throughout these three days. it is located at Janda Baik and the architecture are based on traditional Malay architecture. There are a lot of flora and fauna over there. There are also some ponds and river crossing. The river water is cool and fresh. We girls and boys was slept in different dorms.
After that, we visited Taman Hana Wadi Hussein. It is claimed to be The Most Beautiful Garden in Malaysia. Taman Hana is a sanctuary of love, peace, kindness and all the beauty. It is an indonesianstyle architecture full of coloured earthen tiles and traditionally Malay woodwork. The houses are arranged in a stepped fashion along the riverbanks, each with its own designed. It’s a indonesianstyle architecture. The pathway in Taman Hana Wadi Hussein is decorated nicely with lots of stones and marbles.
We have an outreach program at D’ Daun Az-Zaharah Orphanage Center in Kampung Sum Sum Hilir, Janda Baik on the next day. We helped the Orphanage center to build a security fences and eco pavement. The motive we want to build the fence was to prevent the children from falling into the pond and ensure their safety. We get the valuable construction experience through this trip.
The next place we visited was D'Ark. D’ Ark Resort Sdn bhd located at Pulau Santap, Janda Baik. It is a perfect get away from the city where nature and tranquility awaits you in the most unique setting. It has a primary jungle on one side and the other is a crystal clear river. D’ Ark provided a quiet and peaceful tranquility setting for our relaxation. Architecture in D’ Ark is influenced by Siamese Architecture. This can be seen through the design of roof system, wall, furniture and others.
Through this trip, I have learnt about the importance of relationship between natural and built environment. At Janda Baik, we can see that it is a peaceful village surrounded with untouchable natural tropical rain forest. Sound of crickets can be heard everywhere and the air are fresh. Natural environment and built environment should be balanced when we decided to build a new building.

Heritage Building Models Mini Exhibition @ MASSA
We had attended a mini exhibition about the heritage building models. The models are nicely built and we can view the models from every side of the models as all are in 3D shaped. Also, we can see the interior part of the models. We have chance to see our seniors' work too. It was a great opportunity for us to know what we are going to learn in the future.
Here are some photos that I had taken at MASSA:
