Class Test 

 

Reflection

 

   For this test, we were required to read chapter 1-5 from the textbook, 'Human Communication' by Pearson et alia, as well as Chapter 6 on Conflict and Negotiation from the reference book, ' Human Communication' by Tubbs and Moss. In addition, we need to watch any of the following options: 'The Joy Luck Club' or 'The Bridget Jones Diary' or 'The Secrets of Body Language' or 'Listen, Listen, Listen' episode in Youtube or the video clip by William Mury on Negotiation. This class test is a open book test. We were allowed to rbing in our own notes and original textbook. we were test to examine how much we understand the chapters and concepts that we learned in class.

Effective Public Communication (EPC)

Reflection:

 

Through this class test, I had learnt that we need to master all the theories and concepts then only we can answer the questions in the test. I had used few days to read and memorize some concepts, also jot down the points and do notes. I had learnt that jot down the notes is really important as we can refer to when we need it. As we only need to choose one movie or video to watch, I only focus on 'Bridget Jones Diary' and  'The Joy LuckClub'. I learnt that we really need to understand the synopsis and the characters in the movie and we need to know what the story is about and what the message they want us to know. 

Assignment 1

In this assignment, we were required to produce an academic essay of between 800-1000 words with the standards FNBE cover page. The assignment will test our ability to apply our understanding of theories learnt in Effective Public Communication on one of the selected topic in the lists that given by our lecturer, Mr. Nathaniel Woon. The topic that I had chosen was question one: Write an essay describing an example from your own life where culture affected your perception. Clearly explain how culture impacted your view of the situation. How might someone from a different culture perceived the same instance.

Reflection: 

 

The objectives of this assignment was to understand the basic ideas in the chosen topic and related it to the respective theories associated with the topics as taught in the class with references. And, to express the understanding clearly and accurately in the form of academic essay with the related citations. The learning outcome of this assignment was to be able to explain the basic ideas of each chosen topics with reference to the related theories learned in the class and to prove mastery of the topic and ability to express this in the form of an academic essay with proper APA citations and referencing. I had mastered in write an academic essay now and write a proper citation. Besides that, I had learnt how to apply the theories that I had learnt in writing the academy essay with explanation and examples. 

Assignment 2

In this assignment, we were required to produce a scripts with a 15-20 minutes dialogue that explained our chosen topic. Our script must be at least eight A4 pages in Times New Roman with 2.0 spacing. We need to understand the basic ideas in our chosen topic and express this understanding clearly and creatively by translating the concepts invloved into our dialogue scripts. We had chosen to do on Intercultural Communication, and our title is 'Love and War'. We need to present our dialogue scriptto the class as a recap of what has been covered through the semester in Effective Public Communication.

Reflection: 

 

The learning outcome was able to explain the basic ideas of each chosen topic. I had learnt the technique in writing dialogue script and apply the concepts that I had learnt in my script. I had learnt the importance of intercultural communication in daily life. As we live in a multicultural country and should live pecefully with other race. So, we should treat every races fairly so that they will not feel not being care. Through this course, I had also learnt that effecive public communication skills is very important to us for now and in the future because it will help us in the communication with other people with different cultures and races.
