We had started to learn to write essay since we were in our primary school. In primary school and secondary school, we wrote the essay without adding other things. At Taylor's University, our lecturer had teaches us a lot of things and knowledge in writing a good English essay. We had learned that before we write an essay, we need to do a pre-writing. There are five pre-writing techniques that we can use to think about and develop a topic and get words on paper: (1)freewriting, (2)questioniong, (3)making a list,(4)clustering, and (5)preparing a scratch outline. College essay known as one-three-one essay.  A standard short essay composed over five hundred words that consists of a one-paragraph introduction, a three-paragraph body, and a one-paragraph conclusion. The introduction consists of thesis statement. The body of the essay consists of topic sentence 1, topic sentence 2, topic sentence 3 while the conclusion is the summary of the essay. 

In my English class, our lecturer had wanted us to write an essay. This is the first task that given by our lecturer. The title of my essay is Steps to Overcome Playing Truant. I had done a prewriting that consisted of thesis statement, topic sentences, general details, specific details, conclusion, restate of thesis statement, suggestion and opinion. I had provided references at the last page of my essay. Through this assignment, I had learn to use quotes and phrases in writing the essay. My grammar and vocabulary had improved a lot. In short, I have learn many things in writing a college essay and know how to catch reader's interest.

Our English lecturer had given us another task. We need to do a oral presentation by using video recording. It was a group work. Our group members consists of Ricky Wong, Sharon Chow, Vicky Lee, Prashani and me.  We had memorize our points and presented it in front of camera. We had prepared well in this oral presentation and we had showed a good teamwork in doing this group work. Through this oral presentation, I had improved my presentation skills and communication skills. I had learned that body languages is very important in presentation. It can attract audience's interest and it is carry certain marks. Also, I have learn the importance of teamwork and co-operation between group members.
